12 Step Sangha meets at the Portland Alano Club on NW 24th and Kearney at 7pm, Thursdays in the Loft upstairs. We have about 20 minutes of meditation followed by discussion. Recovering people from any 12 Step program, regardless of the 'addiction of choice', are welcome. Members may suggest prayers and/or meditations from any spiritual tradition. Like any other meeting, it's self-supporting through it's own contributions. Here is our Meeting Format. Note: this group is not a substitute for regular 12 step meetings. It is recommended that participants are actively working a program with a sponsor. If you can donate a spiritual book for our Topic Basket, please bring one.Sign up for the Google Discussion group below to stay informed. You can also send an email to: Darren. Print out our small flyers and post them where people can see them: Flyer |

| A separate event than the weekly meditation meeting: Integrating Buddhism & the 12 Steps - Sunday, Aug. 30th, 2008 - 10:30-1 pm. The purpose of this workshop is to discover connections between Buddhist and recovery principles in the first 3 Steps. It is applicable to addictions to events, processes, substances and people. Participants will learn to integrate recovery with a deeper Buddhist practice through practical techniques that can be used on the cushion and in daily life. Also utilized is a process adapted from Genpo Roshi’s Big Mind, which directly addresses various personality aspects which play a role in addiction and recovery. It’s helpful if participants have some experience with a 12-Step program. Darren Littlejohn is author of the forthcoming book, The 12-Step Buddhist and has been a member of the recovery community for over 20 years. He is a practitioner of Zen and several systems of Tibetan Buddhism, including Vajrayana (Tantra). | ||
